Update: Young Municipal Leaders Gathering

Beim Treffen von ICLEI wird es ein Young Municioal Leaders Gathering geben.

Ziel davon ist: „meet and discuss the creation of a global network for young municipal leaders“

besonders die Punkte: „d) establishment of a mentor programme to help personal development of young leaders;
e) influencing the sustainability debate from the perspective of the next generation and thus influencing ICLEI’s strategic development.“

erscheinen mir sehr interessant. Es ist auch denkbar das wir es schaffen einen Vertreter im Board von ICLEI zu bekommen bzw. unsere Punkte in die Abschlußresoultion von ICLEI zu bringen.

Gerade wir als junge Politiker müßen das Thema Nachhaltigkeit verstärkt fördern, da wir es sein werden, die die Effekte der Politik (noch) spüren werden.

New York times featuring Vauban

Unser Freiburger Lieblingsstadtteil hat es nun auch in die New York Times geschafft und wird dort als Modell für ganz Amerika gefeiert!

In German Suburb, Life Goes On Without Cars

(…)Vauban’s streets are completely “car-free” — except the main thoroughfare, where the tram to downtown Freiburg runs, and a few streets on one edge of the community. Car ownership is allowed, but there are only two places to park — large garages at the edge of the development, where a car-owner buys a space, for $40,000, along with a home. As a result, 70 percent of Vauban’s families do not own cars, and 57 percent sold a car to move here. (…)

Bericht aus Japan

euch von meiner Reise hier am nächsten Montag, den 27.4.09
berichten.  Die Reise hierher hat sich gelohnt und war sehr interessant und
spannend. Unsere Reisegruppe mit Atai Keller, Irene Vogel, Michel Moos,
Martina Feierling Rombach, den Sängers, zeitweise dem OB und Herr Essmann, sowie Herr Burger von der Repräsentation hat hier ein super Programm.
