Family Kits
Yesterday we got two trucks full of family and hygiene kits. They are intended in case we have a small disaster and we need to resupply a family with the most necessary things or if people have to leave their homes and don’t have anything anymore. Actors Cards in Bahasa Indonesia
Yesterday we finished one of the projects I have been doing here for a while, a friend of mine translated the German Red Cross Actors Cards into Indonesian and I will start using them at school visits now. If you want to use them for First Aid lessons or any other kind of PMI / PMR (Youth Red Cross) activity feel free.

Logistics Training
Actually I don’t want to write so much about the logistics training. Again it was intresting to see how Indonesian Red Cross does things and what they teach. In the meantime I started to have 8 hours of language training each week and this increaesed my ability to speak, so that I can at least understand the people in the office and in the bus. But for more elaboarte language such as sms, facebook comments or more specialised things like a seminar about a particular toppic its still not enough.
With the 90 hours that German Red Cross funded we were not able to to any meanigful work and how wonder, just imagine to send someone who learned 90 hours of German to a GRC Branch and expect meaningful work to be done.
Red Cross Day
Während man in Deutschland am 8.5. dem Kriegsende in Europa gedenkt, feiert man hier in Indonesien den Weltrotkreuztag.
Wie so alle Zeremonien oder Veranstaltungen des Indonesichen Roten Kreuzen began auch diese mit dem Singen der Nationalhymne, gefolgt von der Hymne des Indonesischen Roten Kreuzes, danach wurden gebetet und die 7 Prinzipien der Rotkreuzbewegung aufgesagt. Jerome in Curup, Sebastian in Kota
Gestern habe ich den Jerome nach Curup gebracht, das liegt etwa 3 h Fahrt von Bengkulu in den Bergen. Nicht weil es so weit wäre, aber die Strassen sind kurvig und voller Schlaglöcher, so dass die Fahrt halt länger dauert. Hindert aber keinen Indonesier nicht in Kurven zu überholen oder trotzdem mit 80 durch irgendwelche Dörfer zu fahren. „Jerome in Curup, Sebastian in Kota“ weiterlesen
DIPECHO Assesment
Diese und die letzte Woche sind wir sehr mit dem DIPECHO Assesment beschäftigt.
DIPECHO ist Disaster Prepardness Porgramm der European Commission Humanitarian Aid Directorat General. Also das Katastrophenschutz Programm des Generaldirektorats für Humanitäre Angelegenheiten der Europäischen Union (siehe dazu auch: EC Regulation N°1257/96 of 20 June 1996, OL L163 of 02.07.1996).
