Infos about Jumbara asean

I got my hand to some more Information of the Jumbara asean, which is the South East Asian Youth Red Cross meeting, that we will be attending from today in Batam a island off Singapore in Indonesia.

See also my last blogpost. I’m a little embarrased, but we will come there virtually empty handed, since neither we nor the delegation has any material in form of pins, flyers or any other stuff we will be able to share there. I built this two posters from the stuff we got send from Germany as power points. Family Kits

Yesterday we got two trucks full of family and hygiene kits. They are intended in case we have a small disaster and we need to resupply a family with the most necessary things or if people have to leave their homes and don’t have anything anymore. The family kits contain stuff to wash yourself (soap and shampoo), kitchen utensils (dishes, plates) a flashlight, candles a big bucket for washing. „Family Kits“ weiterlesen

Absurdionesien – Ausländer ich nix verstehn!

Mehr als sechs Monate in diesem Land, lassen mich manchmal glauben, der treffendere Name für dieses Land wäre Absurdionesien. Manchmal passieren einfach Dinge, die wir hier nicht verstehen und die auch keiner erklären kann. Gut das ist in Deutschland genauso, hält mich aber nicht davon ab hier ein kleines Best of, zu veröffentlichen

Im Restaurant: Mann nimmt Zahnstocher, putzt sich damit die Fußnägel und legt die benutzen Zahnstocher wieder zurück in den Behälter.

Im Büro: Officeboy nimmt Messer, putzt es am Vorhang ab und schneidet damit die Wasserflasche für den Spender auf.

Im Büro 2: Freiwilliger nimmt kleine Katze die sich im Büro aufhält und wirft sie im hohem Bogen, durch die Tür auf den Hof.

Im Logistik Seminar: wird das abmalen von Formularen, ja wirklich das Abmalen (!) geübt. Nicht das es an jeder Ecke einen Kopierladen gibt.

Curup

Seit einigen Tagen bin ich nun hier in Curup in den Bergen. Curup ist etwa 4 Stunden mit dem Bus oder Auto von Bengkulu weg und angenehm kühl. Daher Nachts hat es so 20 °C und Tags nicht mehr als 30 °C.

Hier ist alles viel kleiner und noch ländlich-indonesischer als in Bengkulu.

Ich wohne bei einer älteren Dame, die ein großes Haus besitzt, mit Haushaltshilfe und einem Gärtner, und einem Auto. Sie ist also nach indonesischn Verhältnissen nicht gerade arm. Ihre vier Söhne sind allesamt bei der Polizei, Luftwaffe und dem Heer. „Curup“ weiterlesen

Starting at the 5th we have the big national Koran reading and reciting competition here in Bengkulu. MTQN.

Whilst I thord that a Koran reading competition would be a very pious and serious affair, here the people think of something else.

Around the stadium the opening ceremony took place, there is huge fair and you can buy clothes, sweets and lots of other things. It has more a country fair feeling or for the Freiburg people it feels more then the „Schalten und Walten“ with stands from the local farmers cooperative, and tourist office.

Nama, Nama, siapa?

Personen Namen sind eine ganz besondere Sache in Indonesier. Bei uns ist es ja traditionell so, Mann heiratet Frau, erster Name der Frau bleibt, Name den sie geerbt hat, wird durch Namen des Mannes ersetzt. Dieser steht als letzter. Hier ist das alles ein wenig komplizierter.

Actors Cards in Bahasa Indonesia
